VIBRATION, 1999
Sound installation
Bass-Shaker, wood, phone box

A wooden phone box from the 1970s is positioned in the entrance area of the museum. As soon as somebody enters the box it starts to vibrate with a deep sound. Inside the box there are special speakers hidden, so called bass shakers. The spoken text about vibration is pitched down to a very deep frequency that makes the walls vibrate like membranes of the speakers. You are no more able to understand the text, you just feel the rhythm of a very deep voice physically as a vibration. After leaving the box the sound file stops and everything seems normal again.
